It has been a turbulent six weeks for the energy industry with companies of all sizes collapsing, with the latest being the powerhouse Bulb! Alongside these uncertainties, the COP26 conference in Glasgow failed to inspire the action most of us hoped for from the worlds’ leaders and left nations, companies and society searching for answering regarding the path to a cleaner, sustainable future.

Last months’ price hikes and changes in Ofgems’ price cap have left the people who matter, YOU, in the dark and uncertain about what their energy futures look like. Well, we wanted to shed some light on the situation and discuss how being at the mercy of the big energy firms is depriving you of control, explain the process of moving to solar and what the future landscape of energy looks like.

Energy should not be a cause for concern in your life, modern-day living is fast-paced and relentless so deciding whether you can afford to turn the heating on during the cold winter days and nights should not add to the pile.

In the control of big energy firms

The last two months have shown how mass dependencies on energy firms can backfire, with over 11 million households being affected, resulting in energy bill increases.

At the best of times, being dependent on big energy firms leaves customers out of control and susceptible to price rises and supply issues. However, at the worst of times, unfortunately right now, companies are the middle man between you and your energy, so when they encounter issues you are left with the horrible growing fear and anxiety surrounding the affordability for basic day-to-day necessities like cooking, washing and heating. Bulb energy is the most recent company to collapse, following the increase in wholesale gas prices – this has left 1.7 million customers asking, ‘what now?’

The trade-off between paying these companies prices has balanced out by the convenience of which your energy is supplied, however, things have changed and that trade-off is dated and that’s due to the advancements in renewable energy sources, particularly solar PV.

Benefits of Solar

Renewables have been around for a while but recently the technology behind solar PV and the overall process including installation has accelerated to make it affordable and the smart choice moving forward.

Here’s why:

  • Be independent of energy companies
  • Lowers energy bills by up to 80%
  • Cutting down your carbon footprint
  • Protection from price rises or supply issues
  • Puts you in control

So, it saves you money, reduces your contribution to climate change and puts you in the driving seat! Sounds like a winner but how easy is the switch? Let’s see…

Making the switch to solar

‘Switch to solar’, ‘Renewables are better for the planet’, ‘You’ll save money’

You’ve probably heard at least one of those before but how you do this is the part often left out so here’s how:

First, you go through a consultation and site survey to ensure we understand your needs and determine your property’s suitability for the installation of solar PVs.

Our team will then put together a design and proposal for you to review, this will include ROI projections, system specifications, full roof layout and performance projections. This will allow you to make an informed decision.

After you give the ok we will move on to any pre-installation applications and installation then you’re ready to be renewable, we will walk you through your system and ensure you are set up with monitoring – you really are in control now!

Making the switch will ensure you’re generating clean, renewable energy whilst saving on your monthly costs.

The future landscape of energy

By moving over to a renewable energy source such as solar you are future-proofing your home. Solar is growing in popularity but in the coming years it will grow in necessity, this will lead to greater levels of demand. If history is anything to go by then increasing levels of demand equates to higher prices, so switching early is wise.

Energy is never going away but the form we use changes as we consume more. Increased pressure on fossil fuels due to their negative impact on climate as well as affordability of better options means the switch to renewables is inevitable but when you decide to make the move is your choice.
